About The Artist
My name is Enzo Prina, I'm a contemporary artist living in Salt Lake City, Utah. My journey as an artist began as soon as I could hold a crayon and draw on the walls of my childhood home. It's been my passion for as long as I can remember.
At five years old, I entered my first art contest at a local Walgreens. The prize was a brand-new Game Boy. I convinced my parents to let me join the coloring contest. Two weeks of coloring later, they hesitantly took me to submit my drawing, worried that the clerk would think that they made it! Out of (what seemed like) hundreds of entries, I won the Game Boy, the ultimate victory for a kid like me.
At ten years old, I got into oil painting with a Bob Ross set my parents gifted me for Christmas. I spent countless hours experimenting with landscapes, textures, and techniques, proudly bringing my creations to school for show-and-tell.
At twelve, my family moved to Southern California. The cultural shift was profound, and art became a refuge for me. Watercolor painting allowed me to explore contrasts, using blank space and masking fluid to create bold, intentional designs. This period taught me to see the beauty in simplicity and imperfection.
High school brought a new dimension to my creative journey. At fourteen, I discovered a love for filmmaking in a freshman class. Shooting and editing videos became an outlet for storytelling and humor, shaping the way I approach visual composition.
At fifteen I dove into ceramics, making interesting sculptures of humans and animals. I hope to have time to get back into ceramics one day.
At seventeen, I launched my first art account on Instagram, @enzopotato. Acrylic painting captivated me with its vibrant hues and dynamic possibilities. I began experimenting with moiré patterns, fascinated by the interplay of lines and optical illusions—a passion that would become a defining feature of my work.
When I was nineteen, I moved to Paraguay and Argentina for a two-year service mission. Immersing myself in the cultures, people, and cuisine of South America enriched my perspective and continues to influence my artistic voice today.
Two years later at twenty-one, I moved to Utah to pursue higher education, balancing my studies with entrepreneurial ventures. Within a year, the demands of running multiple businesses led me to drop out of college and focus on building brands. Over the next five years, I honed my skills in graphic design, branding, and content creation. Leveraging my filmmaking experience, I launched a YouTube channel for one of my brands, Space Age Snacks, growing it to nearly seven million followers and over four billion views. These years of creative exploration taught me the value of persistence and connection through visual storytelling.
In November of 2024, I experienced a pivotal moment in my life. My grandfather, a lifelong source of wisdom and inspiration, passed away. At his funeral, I was deeply moved when all of the speakers talked about how he followed his life passion of being outside. It was the center of his life... for example, he built a log cabin in the woods in Oregon to raise his family, including my mother. People spoke about the thrilling experiences they shared with him where they narrowly escaped "the jaws of death". It made me reflect on my own life and reignited a calling I had always known: to be an artist.
Since then, I have devoted myself fully to creating art that embodies the concepts and visions I’ve been nurturing for years. My moiré pieces, which first emerged in high school, have taken on new life as I push the boundaries of what’s possible in this style. This journey has brought me a sense of fulfillment I haven’t felt in years, and I'm eager to share it with the world.
Thank you for supporting me as I follow my dreams.
